Quick-set slurry is a mixture of asphalt emulsion, aggregate and
mineral filler, and water that is mixed and applied in one pass with the same
specialized equipment shown under microsurfacing. It will accept traffic within two
to three hours after application under most conditions. It is a less expensive
alternative to microsurfacing because the emulsion is not polymer modified and 100%
crushed aggregate is not required.
Slurry surfacing will seal the pavement from intrusion of water and reduce
oxidation and weathering of the surface. It also provides improved skid resistance.
