The Gorman Group provides a vast array of preventative maintenance and pavement rehabilitation services including: Cold In Place Recycling (CIPR), Micro Surfacing, Paver Placed Surface Treatment (PPST), Full Depth Reclamation (FDR), FiberMat®, Chip Seal, Cold Mix Paving, Crack Seal, and Fog Seal.
Cold In Place Recycling (CIPR)
Cold In Place Recycling (CIPR) is a green and cost effective method to revitalizing the upper 1.5"- 4” of road surface; eliminating wheel ruts, cracking, and replacing both grade and slope if desired. This streamlined process involves grinding down existing pavement with a milling machine, which is connected to a mix paver where the material is then re-mixed with emulsion to be put back down in one pass.
Micro Surfacing & Slurry Seal
Micro Surfacing and Slurry Seal are thin pavement preservation treatments consisting of a mixture of: asphalt and emulsion, aggregate, mineral filler and water, that dries to a hard black finish.
Paver Placed Surface Treatment (PPST)
Paver Placed Surface Treatment (PPST) seals existing road surfaces and provides a new skid resistant wearing course. The application involves a self-priming paver, which applies an emulsion bond coat directly in front of the paving screed where an ultra-thin overlay of hot mix asphalt is placed.
FiberMat® is the ideal stress absorbing membrane interlayer. The FiberMat process utilizes a specially developed patented machine which chops fiberglass strands in-place and sandwiches them between two layers of polymer modified asphalt emulsion prior to the application of a light dressing of 1/4”, 3/8” or 1/2” aggregate, which is then rolled into the surface. This mixture acts as a highly resilient waterproof membrane that effectively bridges alligator pavements and also delays reflective cracking.
A Chip Seal (surface treatment) is a thin preventive maintenance overlay consisting of a heavy spray application of asphalt emulsion followed by a single layer of clean, uniform sized crushed stone. The surface treatment will seal the pavement from intrusion of water and reduce oxidation and weathering of the surface. Pavement skid resistance is also improved with a Chip Seal surface treatment.
Full Depth Reclamation (FDR)
Full Depth Reclamation (FDR) and Stabilization is a pavement rehabilitation process that pulverizes and reuses the existing pavement and sub-base materials to produce a structurally strong pavement base course.
Cold Mix Paving
Cold Mix Paving utilizes a mixture of aggregates and emulsion that can be blended and placed in one continuous operation with Gorman's specialized equipment, or blended at a customer's facility using a pugmill then placed by conventional paving equipment.
Crack and Joint Sealing is a preventative maintenance treatment that increases pavement life at a minimal cost by keeping water out of the pavement structure.
